This was an extraordinary show. Martins is a small venue but hosts some really good performances. This being one of the best. Sam was on fire as always and Bird Dog was all over the place working his magic. I do hope to see a keyboardist join up again soon.
Personally, 'Sweet Louisiana' payed for the ticket. It's one of my favorites. 'Time is Free' was probably the best Ive heard it played by anyone. The jams were on fire and well placed. 'Happy Child' and 'Tennessee Before Daylight' were definitely highlights and Skynyrd's 'Gimme Back My Bullets' closed the show out with an explosion of good old deep south rock-n-roll.
Outformation has developed a sound that is certainly original and is their's alone. The lingering lead is so very genuine. The composition is real. The perfortmance is outstanding. However original, you can definitly feel the presence of an old and dear friend in their music. I know they are doing him proud and he is smiling down on them.
Outformation is leading the way for the next generation of real southern rock and it's shaping up to be a good one!
Aa a long time Widespread Panic fan, Ive been fortunate to have seen Sam stand in with them on a couple of occasions. The last time was at The Backyard in 2006 for the third night encore of Vacation->Last Dance. It's great to see him out on his own and doing the deal. He, Jeff and the other guys are as real as it gets and very deserving of success. Keep it coming guys!!
